Transcript
If you’re a dentist, nobody taught you how a dental practice actually makes money. Not in dental school, not in residency. You find out after you sign the associate contract or the PPO agreement or even the purchase offer, usually about a year too late. I’m Ryan Smith, DDS. I’m a general dentist and I’ve owned and run more than 18 dental practices. I also run a dental assisting school and a buying group for dentists. And I’ve been on the other side of the invoice. I’ve owned a dental lab, a dental supply company and a handpiece repair company. This is The Dental Grind. Every Monday, I take one part of a dental practice apart and put real numbers on it for my own offices. What a crown really makes by the hour. How an insurance claim gets paid or doesn’t. The PPO math nobody shows you at signing. What a practice is really worth when somebody wants to buy it. It’s for dental students, associates, and new owners who want to understand the business before it costs them. 15 to 20 minutes, one topic, and nobody’s selling you anything. Episode 1 is The Crown Clock. It’s out Monday, October 19th. Follow the show wherever you’re listening and get the newsletter free at grind.dental.
